Miranda Tam has the morning announcements in today’s Albert the Alien!

After the first week of Albert being on the planet, Heston Heights Middle School is gearing up for Homecoming. The game, the dance, and the nominations for King and Queen! Looks like Miranda may have a dream of going to the dance with a certain student from the stars we all know and love. But they clearly have some fierce competition from the previous King and Queen – Flip Johnson and Patricia Chricton, the most popular couple in the school!

When I was in school we had what I would call “power couples,” people who would date and get a lot of gossip around it. Or who would date because they were both popular, and they would only date within the popular kid pool. But I don’t know that we had a most popular couple in the school. We did have a few sweethearts that had been together forever, though, and I always thought that story was very sweet. A couple who met early and were so in tuned with each other that they just clicked.

I didn’t follow all of them after high school – I had a HUGE graduating class – but I like to think that those couples stayed together and are living happily ever after today.

This isn’t the kind of story we’re going to tell here, though. Yuck, mushy stuff. No, we’re going to tell a fun adventure story! See you Friday for another update!

In April, Gabe and I will be attending C2E2 here in Chicago. I’ll be working the Reading with Pictures booth along with good friends Jim McClain and Russell Lissau. Gabe will be in artist alley.

Both of us will have copies of Albert available for sale, along with some other great books, original art, and we’ll both be available to take commissions.
