Albert the Alien release party
On December 5, 2015 we had an awesome and amazing release party for ALBERT THE ALIEN vol 2 at Defiant Comics in Forest Park, Il. We invited the entire creative team for the book, and everyone who could attend showed up to help sign copies of the Kickstarter-funded graphic novel, and have fun with friends and fans of the series!
The store had done a bunch of promotion for the event, and we had also been promoting on social media and on our Kickstarter feed. The event went from 10am-3pm, and had some pretty decent traffic coming in. Readers of all ages had an opportunity to meet the creators, talk about their favorite characters and adventures from the series, and pick up copies of the books!
Gabo and Trevor were there all day, signing over 200 copies of the book for the event attendees, Kickstarter supporters, and pre-orders. It was a massive under-taking, but a lot of fun to hang out as a team – and also to hang out with the fans we’ve made on this all-ages title.
Gabo even put little sketches in every signed copy of the books for our supporters! He’s an art machine, I tell you…a MACHINE!
Ashley Erickson also showed up to hang out, and sign copies of the books for the Kickstarter. Ashley did a number of pinups in the book, as well as did art for one of the bonus stories.
When we saw the table with the Kickstarter books we needed to sign, she was like, “You mean this is only a fraction of the books we ordered?” Thankfully, we didn’t ask her to sign all of the copies we printed (that would have taken all weekend).
The pizza definitely helped us all sign the books. Your hand gets sore after a while spent signing, but with good food in the tummy anything is possible.
At this time, we’re happy to announce that all of the books have shipped! AND many people are already tagging us on Facebook and Twitter with pictures of them and the book – please feel free to tag us as well!
